Sepecat Jaguar review
Sepecat Jaguar was built to for needs of France and UK for a new military jet
. It is mostly used as a ground attack aircraft, but it can also act as a fighter to defend itself with two Sidewinder AIM-9L air-to-air missiles, which can be mounted on the wing hardpoints. As a great bomber aircraft, it has proven itself over and over again in missions, all over the world, including in the 1991 Gulf War plus in other Middle East operations and in the Balkans. It can carry up to 1000lb (454kg) of bombs, cluster munitions, laser guided bombs and it is also equipped with two 30mm cannons. Sepecat Jaguar could also be armed with a tactical nuclear weapon which was one of fundamental expectations during the Cold war.
France and UK are the main users of Sepecat Jaguar, but it has also been exported with success to India where it is built by BAe and also to Ecuador, Oman and Nigeria.
First prototype flew in 1968 in France, while the first British Jaguar flew in 1969, breaking the sound barrier on its first flight. It was presented in single-seat and two-seat version.
Major upgrade came in year 2000, when Jaguar GR3 was presented. The upgrade included GPS, night
vision goggles, helmet mounted sight, improved avionics and many more. It can perform in any conditions andworks outstanding in desert or in Arctic Circle.
