Outsourcing your affiliate business is not a walk in the park!

Share: Over recent years, outsourcing your affiliate marketing business tasks has become increasingly popular
. The lure of inexpensive employees on other sides of the globe is appealing to many who cannot afford local resources yet need assistance to grow their business beyond their own time constraints.
It makes sense to employ the services of other, less expensive resources to complete the routine day to day tasks of your business as this enables you to focus on the core business building activities such as strategy, sales and product planning. Finding the right help and training your staff in the ways of your business, however, is not a task that can be underestimated and until you delve into the world of outsourcing you may not realize just what a time consuming and sometimes frustrating task it can be!
When I first committed to finding a full time virtual assistant for my online business, I made several of the most common mistakes made. I will outline these in a little more detail here in an effort to make you away of some of the pitfalls, trial and tribulation of outsourcing your affiliate success:
1. Looking for a virtual employee who can do everything'.
Your first instinct may be to find someone who, just like you, can do everything required to keep your internet business running. Creating and managing websites, setting up domains, graphic design, writing content, creating social media sites, managing social media, email autoresponders...the list goes on. It is highly unlikely that you will find someone who fits the bill. You are far better off to find a person who meets one or two of your criteria. So think about what you want your employee to do. What is THE most important thing you need them to do right now for your business and focus on that.
2. Pay appropriately and regularly.
Outsourcing to many overseas destinations is so incredibly inexpensive, so don't spend time haggling over a few dollars here and there. Pay the going rate for what you want and make sure you pay regularly.
3. Start out slowly.
Don't bombard your new employee with a mountain of work from day one. You need to ease them into it. Allocate only a few tasks at once and ensure you get regular feedback on how the tasks are progressing and any issues that your employee is finding.
4. Train your employee.
No one knows how to do everything that you are doing for your business right now. So, it's best if you resign yourself to that fact now! The other part to this is that you may think that a task is simple but you need to assume that your employee is starting out with no knowledge on the task whatsoever and build a task or procedure list from that starting point. It'll save you both time in the long run if your procedure lists are detailed and include screenshots and video. Building your training materials based on no prior knowledge will also put you in a much better position should you need to hire and train another employee.
So as you can see, outsourcing is not a walk in the park. It takes time, effort and patient to find a new employee and train them up to do the tasks that you need. It is, however, a necessary investment of time in your business and will allow you to leverage your time into more income producing activities and strategic business growth.
