Philadelphia Eagles beating the New York Giants. For the first time this season Michael Vic was somewhat contained and yet the Philadelphia Eagles still won. The Eagles in reality should have blown the Giants out. Michael Vic for missed fired for the first time this season on a couple of passes most notably he missed a wide open DeSean Jackson on after a scramble in the second quarter. DeSean Jackson dropped a tough but catchable touchdown pass and Jason Avant made like Jackie Smith and dropped an easy touchdown pass. Not to mention a missed field goal. Michael Vic played with well to overcome the Giants plan to take away the Eagle quick strike ability and make the Eagles drive the entire field in small chunks, which they did up until the fourth down touchdown run by Lesean McCoy. Vic showed patience and toughness. Vic was sacked and hit numerous times, including some late hits that weren't called. He was also blitzed often from his left side flushing him right and when he goes right he's the run pass threat he is when he goes left. I'm sure Andy Reid will counter that next time they meet with quick hitches and slants to Vic's right side. The Eagle offensive line well also played against the most athletic front four in the league. The only way the Giants hit Vic was when they blitzed. The Eagle defense played another solid game. They are improving every week. They stopped the Giants running attacked cold, pressured Eli Manning and forced turnovers. Asante Samuel is a ball magnet. He finds the ball at the most crucial times. But Samuel has to know when to get down. His fumble after his second interception gave the Giants a second chance to win the game late. There is a theory that the Giants now have the blueprint to stop the Eagles and Vic. They don't. The plan just slowed them down and despite that the Eagles still should have scored forty.

The Giants on the other hand played game they wanted on defense. Don't give up big plays, which worked until the guessed quarterback sneek on fourth and one and got burned on the sweep to the outside by McCoy. Their offense was held in check for the most. They could not run the ball and make plays when they had the opportunity. The NFL is a no excuse league. Nobody cares if you're missing offensive line starters and clutch receiver Steve Smith. The backups have to step up and perform. They didn't get the job done. Also Eli Manning has been playing fast and loose with the football all season long and that continued against the Eagles. He's been in the league long enough to know that committing turnovers will get you beat. His fumble after breaking away from a sure sack and getting a first down was a back breaker. His dive when he didn't have too was awful looking. He should know slide feet first. He cost the Giants a chance to steal a game they had no business being in.

New England Patriots beating the Indianapolis Colts. It was another classic matchups between rivals teams and great quarterbacks. The Patriots and Tom Brady just slowly grind games into submission. Brady just dinks and dunks down the field and the run Patriots with a running game by committee lead by Benjarvus Green-Ellis and Danny Woodhead just gets the job done. They are not flashy but extremely effective. Brady executed the offense to perfection. He does not turn the ball over and came make big plays when he needs to. The Patriots offensive line controlled the quick defensive front of the Colts and kept them off Brady for the most part. The young Patriot defense played well for three quarters despite not getting sacks against Manning. They pressured him throughout and pressure caused the last interception by Manning. A reason for concern is the Patriots seem to lack a killer instinct. They should have buried the Colts after going up by 17 in the fourth quarter. They let the Colts and Manning back into the game and almost losing by playing soft coverage in the fourth quarter. Bill Belichick is a defensive wizard but that defensive strategy almost cost them the game, a game they controlled for more than three quarters. He should have bought pressure on Manning. He was very fortunate that Manning threw the late interception.

Peyton Manning just continues to amaze me, the last interception notwithstanding which was not his fault. He was nudged just enough to throw the pass off. Manning believe or not is underrated. Think about it, Manning has no running game so the Patriots are just teeing off on the pass. He is also missing his top offensive weapons and is playing well with backups like Jacob Tamme, Austin Collie and Blair White. Who are they? I'm sure even the ardent Colt fans could not recognize these guys walking down the street. But Manning just keeps completing pass after pass. I could see the angst in the faces of Patriots fans in the fourth quarter as Manning drove the Colts down the field in the waning moments. I saw that Manning was beating himself up after that game for not extending the game and giving the Colts a chance to tie. I can't fault him at all for going for the win. He was rolling up until that point. A field goal was not automatic even with big game kicker Adam Vinatieri. I would never count a future hall of fame quarterback out, but I wonder how much longer Manning can keep playing well with backups.

Chicago shutting out Miami. The Bears make a habit of winning ugly. Although it helps when the Dolphins run the ball only seven times and with a third string quarterback named Tyler Thigpen who is not exactly Dan Marino. Maybe the Dolphin coaches wanted their running backs to have fresh legs for a south beach weekend.

New York Jets edging Houston. The Texans have about as much luck as a turkey on thanksgiving. The Jets are the ultimate drama queens. They insist on winning on last second touchdowns. They are starting to give free seats to ambulances just in case for the fans.

Baltimore over Carolina. The Ravens rolled up the Panthers as expected, but poor Panther new starting quarterback Brian St. Pierre. One week you're a stay at home dad changing baby Stewie's diaper. The next week you're getting beat up by an unruly Raven defense.

Green Bay blowing out Minnesota. The Packers came out and the final nail in the Viking season and getting Coach Brad Childress fired. Brett Farve has got to be thinking I should have listened to my psychic and stayed home on the ranch.

Jacksonville edging Cleveland. The Jaquars win a another close game at the end. They have got to be the luckiest first place team south of Chicago. The Browns played hard and hard again. There defense did another "ole" on the long Maurice Drew-Jones run to the one yard line.

Atlanta spanking St. Louis. The Falcons are a solid team that no one cares about outside of Atlanta. The Rams are young and improving but by the time they are get real good they will be back in Los Angeles.

Washington nipping Tennessee in overtime. The Redskins rebounded from Monday night's blowout loss by kicking a last second field goal at the end. Donavan McNabb says 80 million and taking spin classes have improved his cardio conditioning. Vince Young threw a temper tantrum when head Jeff Fisher did not put him back in the game. Even Randy Moss thought that was a punk move on Vince Young's part.

Buffalo coming back against Cincinnati. The Bills rallied for a good win on the road. The Bengals are so bad that nobody is watching Ocho Cinco's or T.O.'s reality television shows.

Dallas defeating Detroit. The Lions for one the few times this season do not cover the point spread. The Cowboys won their first game of the season in Jerry Jones's giant television stadium. Jerry Jones is begging the NFL for a redo to start the season again.

Pittsburgh knocking off Oakland. The Steelers buckled their chin straps beat up the best Raider team in a decade. Al Davis called Roger Goodell still complaining that Frenchy Fuqua touched the ball on the immaculate reception thirty eight years later.

Kansas City beating Arizona. The Chiefs continue their home field dominance by thrashing the Cardinals. The Cardinals are now regretting they let Matt Leinart go.

New Orleans over Seattle. The Seahawks went back to their passive zombie ways and lose on the road again. The Saints are happy because they wanted a light workout before going to Dallas for thanksgiving.

Tampa Bay over San Francisco. The Buccaneers are the NFL's unsung team. Too bad they play in the NFL toughest division. The 49ers are now the leading contender to land Stanford coach Jim Harbaugh.
