I was always looking for ways to show me how to be more financial and to be able to have no debts. I searched everywhere for ideas but just never found what I was looking for. Then I realised that I have to make my own ideas, as everyone is different. So I sat down one day and pulled all my bills and debts that I had and started going through them. On the side I also had my budget, which obviously wasn't working for me, and I knew that I had to make changes. And work towards becoming a MoneySavingExpert.
The first thing I looked at was my shopping bill and then had to decide what was the money I was allowed to use. Once I made the decision I had to stick to this no matter what. An idea that might help you, which I have taken onboard, is that I write my menus for the week and I stick to it. I only get what I need to be able to prepare these meals. It might seem like a big task but you will be surprised how much you will save by just being prepared for the following week. It might take you a while to start the process but it will get easier.
You should included the Kids in to these decisions as you don't want to make something they don't like as you won't have something else for them to eat. With the kids getting involved you can also discuss what they will have through out the day eg: their school lunches, morning and afternoon tea and desert. The kids will then feel part of it all and I find it fun to sit the kids down and let them help me decide as they feel part of the family.
With deciding on school lunches you could look in to stuff that you can prepare ahead of time, as I don't know about you it gets hectic in the morning anything you can do to help your stress levels is a good thing. If you decide to do baking include the kids in to helping you cook. Many hands make light work as they say and then that way they learn to appreciate everything they eat and make. When you shop for baking look at the home brand or specials, as there is nothing with their flour or sugar. A lot of there baking items are excellent and that there is a saving just what you need.
These are only a couple of little things that once you work them into your weekly routine it will without a doubt help you get on the track to becoming a MoneySavingExpert.
