Life, Business and Executive Coaching – What's the difference?

Life, Business and Executive Coaching – What's the difference?

There are three strong similaritiesbetween Life

, Business adn Executive Coaching.

Then their focus begins to shift. Life, Business and Executive Coaching all:

a) Begin where you are today (not the past)

b) Use questioning and listening techniques to understand where you are now, where you want to go and help determine how you will get there.

c) They are all based on the belief that your staff already know the answers to the majority of their challenges but lack confidence or insight to back their own judgment and take action.

Your job as a coach to your staff is to unlock their inner wisdom so that they can act more confidently.

Your staff already have the ability to solve the majority of problems they face but lack the confidence or insight to back their own judgment and take action.

Now I'm going to expand on that. In the majority of circumstances, they have either experienced a similar problem before or they know someone else who has and they have the ability to come up with a variety of ideas options and chose a solution with a little help.

The coach's job is not to provide suggestions as a Mentor would - but to question the person to help them find their own solutions.

It is surprising, how a few quick guiding questions can help others on the path to see the opportunities around them and give them confidence and insight to explore them.

So what differentiates a Life Coach from a Business Coach from an Executive Coach and what type of coaching do YOU need to deliver to help your staff Step Up and Seize Opportunities??

If you have staff with personal life issues that are affecting their work, and you feel yourself drawn to assist, you could direct him/her to a professional counselor or you could direct them to a Life coach who will work with them to discuss areas of love and marriage, relationships, children, schooling, life direction to help them solve their own issues.

If your coaching is about improving business processes, products, strategy, pricing, tax, distribution, marketing, customer service, accounting etc - all the tangible aspects of business delivery, you will be providing Business Coaching.

If however, your coaching is going to focus on performance, leadership, team development, helping others to manage conflict, motivate others, organize their time better, etc, these are all people leadership issues which fall under the title of Executive Coaching.
