, the Lanier LD-045 digital copier provides fairly good copy quality for black and white reproductions at a fast pace. While its scan and print resolutions are both equally limited, its speed and expandability makes it the perfect unit for the small business that relies mostly on text only documents.
With only 600 x 600 dots per inch print quality and 600 dot per inch optical scan quality, the Lanier LD-045 is very limited concerning imagery, but charts and graphs should still print and replicate with acceptable precision. The toned down version of the printer, the Lanier LD-035, comes with a reduced price tag and print speeds topping out at 35 pages per minute, while this version prints at up to 45 pages per minute. It also has an exceptionally fast first page out time of only 3.6 seconds, whereas the less expensive model operates at 4.5 seconds.
Electronic sorting is made possible by the units internal memory and processor, and multiple copies can be made in quantities of up to 999 at once from a single source. Paper supplies come in the form of two standard 500 sheet trays and a single 50 sheet bypass tray. An additional set of two 500 sheet paper trays is optional, along with a large capacity 1,500 sheet paper cassette. Paper output is routed to an internal 500 sheet tray, or to one of the many optional finishers which can staple, fold, and hole punch workloads.
Also optional for finishing hardware is a single bin tray with a 125 sheet paper capacity and a 45 page per minute automatic document feeder that can hold up to 80 sheets. Standard finishing options come in the forms of a 1,000 sheet finisher with a 50 staple capacity and three positions, and a multi tray finisher. The multi tray hardware includes a 500 sheet upper tray as well as a 2,000 sheet lower tray with a 50 sheet stapling capacity, 4 positions, and an optional hole punch. Lastly, a booklet finisher is helpful for automatically folding and stapling small booklets together and holds up to 1,000 sheets in its lower tray and 150 in its upper tray, plus 150 sheets in its booklet tray.
Oversized paper is compatible with the Lanier LD-045, which can handle both A3 and ledger sizes. Reduction and enlargement settings can be controlled in single percentage increments in a range from 25 to 400%. Duplexing is also standard with the unit and can be a great asset no only when printing booklets but for printing plain, two sided material as well.
Central document storage is contained within a huge 20 GB hard drive which can hold massive amounts of data for reoccurring printing and a built in web image monitor allows users to search, view, and reprint the documents stored locally. While the Lanier LD-045 is quite dated in some aspects, its powerful software is still relevant, and possibly available for a bargain.
