Our Review
First of all, this is one of the cheapest touchscreen mobile phones of all time where it is not only lightweight, it is also slim and it comes in many colours such as black, pink, blue or white that is similar to its predecessor; LG KP500. This particular trait is very suitable for users that like their mobile phones to be colourful instead of the common black and white choices.
On top of that, it is somewhat amazing that a touchscreen feature can be integrated into this mobile despite its slim frame and look with three buttons below the screen indicating the call button, end call button and shortcut button. If you are looking for a touchscreen phone but cannot afford the iPhone, this mobile is definitely for you.
Not only that, with the price, one might not expect much on the colour of the screen or the sound but amazingly, this mobile exceeds all expectations where it presents a very bright and clear display where the images on the screen are sharp and text is very clear. It also comes with a volume control button, camera control button and lock button all around the handset which makes it very handy. The 2 megapixel camera is also quite outstanding in taking images and also there is a microSD card slot available for you to increase your memory capacity of the mobile phone. This is like a mini phone that has plenty of entertainment qualities for a normal user.
Despite that, there are some drawbacks to the relatively small screen of the mobile phone where one might accidentally hit the wrong buttons on the screen especially when you are typing. Also, when tapping on an icon, one might need to tap it harder in order for it to capture sensitivity which can be a hassle sometimes. There is also no 3G and no WiFi support on the mobile phone. But all of that would not matter so much once you know that the LG GS290 comes with three homescreens where you can put the widgets that are often used on them like facebook that can be connected via GPRS or EDGE.
If you are one that likes to talk on the phone with your friends, the LG GS290 has a speed dial screen where you can be in touch with friends without browsing through your phone book. This saves a lot of unnecessary time.
The advantage of this model is that one can multitask on it via the shortcut button. This means that you can have more than one programme running especially when you want to listen to music as well as type a text message or go on facebook at the same time.
As for the entertainment part of the mobile phone, it is amazing to know that the LG GS290 has a media player that supports microSD card for extra memory to keep your songs in check and a 2 megapixel camera that allows you to take pictures of the moment when you do not have a digital camera. Besides that, it can also record videos. The only con is that it does not come with a flash, but that does not matter at all with the price.
As for the battery, the usage is sufficient where it will last 7 hours on talk time and expected to stay alive for approximately 420hours on standby. The LG GS290 is similar to high specification smart phones.
In conclusion, the LG GS290 is a fairly good device for the price and it will not interfere with any other smart phones in the market nowadays. With the interesting design and interface as well as it's clear screen and brightness, one will be very satisfied with the phone and the price.
