Is It Possible To Negotiate Your Shipping Rates?

People that have been in business for any lengthy period of time will realize that

there are many different goods and services that you can negotiate a given price for. There are also some situations when people don't know if they are going to be allowed to negotiate or not. A good example of this type of situation is when people aren't sure whether or not they are going to have any chance of negotiating with their Los Angeles courier service when it comes to the rates that they are assessed for shipping.

When it comes to negotiating shipping rates people often have more leeway than they realize at first. There are some kinds of shipping that you might be able to negotiate and others where that will not be possible. The kinds of shipping when you're simply shipping a single package somewhere aren't usually negotiable. On the other hand, if you're shipping regularly and are an account holding shipper with a courier company, you may have a bit more flexibility in negotiating the rates that you pay for your shipping.

This doesn't mean that you're going to be able to get incredibly discounted shipping on every single order, and it is important that you take the right approach to trying to negotiate a shipping rate. One of the best ways to go about this is to try and negotiate a preferred rate on all your shipping. This is something that you might do with a courier company that you have an account with and ship with on a very regular basis. You might ask them to give you a discount of a few percent off each of your shipments in order to keep you shipping with them.

The more that you ship, the more inclined a courier company is going to be to grant this kind of a request. However, even if you're shipping a smaller amount, as long as you have an account with a courier company, don't be afraid to at least ask for a discount. You know that they're never going to give you a discount for free, so if you at least ask them about it you can get the dialogue going and see what possibilities they might be able to offer you. Another good tool is to research the prices available to you from other courier companies, as that can give you a little bit more leverage when you're trying to negotiate a better rate.
