Is GDI a Scam? Global Domains International Review
Global Domains International is a corporation responsible for registering all .ws domains. They are also a very popular and fairly inexpensive network marketing business opportunity.
The business aspect is based solely on an affiliate program. Those who sign up pay $10 a month for web hosting, marketing tools, and their affiliate rights to sell GDI. The compensation plan is that of a typical MLM, a pyramid. One thing you need to know is that a pyramid compensation plan is not a scam, it is actually a fairly effective incentive to recruit people for your down line. The people you recruit will make money for you!
GDI is a highly searched term and people will come across everything from website hosting to home business when they type it into their search engine. Since it is so popular, it could be an easy way to make some decent money.
The company designs their websites to be very enticing and easy to navigate so that they do all of the work for you. This is an added benefit because you don't actually have a lot of selling to do, rather the product sells itself.
In my opinion there are two issues that make me think twice...
The commissions that you receive when you recruit new people are small. $1 per month per person in your down line. That also goes 5 levels deep so you aren't collecting only on the people you bring in, but also the people they bring in, and so on down the line. On a positive note though, there are bonus commissions that you can receive that are performance based.
Simply put, all business runs on supply and demand. I am not entirely sure that .ws domains will gain enough popularity to compete with .com, .net, .org, etc. Some people (mostly GDI affiliates) will tell you that .com, .net, etc will not be available because they are being registered every single day. With this limited supply of available domain names, people will be forced to search for domains elsewhere such as the.ws. While there is some truth to the fact that eventually all the good names will be taken, I don't see this happening anywhere in the near future. My argument remains, if there was such in issue with availability, why aren't we exposed to more .ws domains now? How many people in the general public could even tell you that there is a registry for .ws domains? There is always going to a market for things that are new and will become popular, or things that are already popular. GDI has been around for more than a decade and still doesn't have a mass following even with the growth seen on the internet around the world.
