How To Write Short Reports To Market Your Online Business

Share: A short report can be an informational report that you give away free
. You can give your short report away in a variety of ways including as a gift for email list sign up, a bonus for buying a product, and you can even give it away to your affiliates to rebrand.
Writing short reports is easy to do. You can use old blog posts, combine old articles, create a reference list, a how to guide, or even compile case studies. The important thing to do is sit down and consider your purpose for writing the report. Naturally one purpose is to bring the reader into your product funnel, the next purpose is to compel them to want to purchase a product within that funnel.
Whether you write a case study, or a reference list, a how to guide, or you are using old blog posts to create your short report, make sure you insert some compelling graphics such as tables and graphs that help clarify what you are trying to tell the reader. You also want to use appropriate bullets, fonts, highlights, and pictures within your report. Also don't forget to create relevant, keyword rich, compelling titles and headlines for your reports.
Your short report should also have a call to action. The call to action should encourage the reader to do something, whether that is to send the report to their friends or move down your product funnel by purchasing something, or both.
Once you have your purpose, your titles, create a basic outline to your short report. Then simply plug in the articles, the case studies, the graphics, and other information to make your report complete. Do not forget to add in your website information, biographical information and other information that gives the reader information about you and why he or she should listen to what you have to say in the short report. This information should appear after the table of contents.
Write a summary of the information that you complied and put it at the top of the report, after your biographical information. In front of the summary insert a table of contents and in front of the table of contents insert a cover graphic of some kind. Conclude with another summary and your call to action.
So the order of your short report will be:
1. Cover graphic
2. Table of contents
3. Biographical information
4. Summary of the information
5. The information: Your compilation of articles, case studies, blog posts, etc.
6. Close with another summary
7. Your Call to Action
Now simply put it all together and format your short report so that it looks pretty. You can do this with Word or with Open Office. The newest version of Word gives you the ability to save your content in PDF format and so does Open Office. If you do not have these programs, get a PDF converter. You can find one by doing a Google search. Either way, format the report so that it is simple to read with plenty of white space. Have a nice cover designed, and you're ready to start giving away your free report to market your business.
