How To Party On A Budget
Giving a party on a budget just doesn't seem right
. But then again, you don't have to spend a fortune on a party. Here's how to put together a cheap fun party.
Venue
When funds are tight, try to find a low cost or free venue to host your party. It can be a friend's house, the backyard, a local park or even your Grandpa's house. For a low cost venue you can find some rooms available in a restaurant, or a pizza parlor etc. Get some people who can volunteer for free at your party, like friends, co-workers etc.
Party Atmosphere
Create a fun party atmosphere with colorful decorations and music. Scented candles or simmering a pot of water with cinnamon and citrus fruit will fill the house with a delightful aroma. Have your favorite music playing softly in the background when guests arrive. Creative lighting can really enhance the party atmosphere. You can replace some bulbs with colored lamps or bring out the Christmas lights. These ideas will not cost much and will really liven up your party.
Invitations
When you are cost-cutting, make your own invitations on a 5x7 card. Give the party details on one side and the mailing address on the other side. If possible you can even e-mail the card. These cost practically nothing and will have the same effect.
Theme
Make sure you pick out a theme for which you can decorate with things already lying in the house. For example- for a beach theme, decorate with with towels, sunglasses, umbrellas, lawn chairs and have your guests come in beach attire. Again you are saving money and making the party entertaining. For a kids party, you can give a video game theme and ask all kids to bring their favorite video games, they will play for hours and entertain themselves.
Food And Drinks
If you plan on baking a cake, keep it with the theme of the party. If not a cake, you can also bake a pie. Keep the food simple and make them ahead of time, so that you can mingle with your guests. You can mix and serve drinks in a large container and hand them out in paper cups. Another way to cut cost is by having a pot-luck party where everyone can bring a dish of their own.
Entertainment
If the party is for kids, there is no need to hire entertainers. With some creative thinking you can make up your own games. Keep a talent contest, where the kids can do their own entertaining and have fun. You can also ask one of your friends or family members to become the DJ for the day with the music you have in your house. If the weather outside is nice, a fun party can be planned by having races, field games, a water balloon fight etc.
Make What You Need
Make all the food from scratch, you can save a lot here. Make your own gift wrap, this can be fun and easy. Take some plain brown paper or tissue paper along with paint, markers or crayons and you are on your way to make your personalized gift paper. Involving kids in this is a great idea. Wrapping can even be done with the cartoon page of a newspaper, kids will love it and it is an innovative idea.
Memories
Don't forget to snap photos and take videos of your party and circulate it to all those who have attended the party. This will be a fun way to remember the special event. This is also a great idea for a take home gift for all your guests.
Hope these ideas make your party fun, without breaking the bank!
