I get a lot of emails and questions about the cost of Nutrisystem. The other day, someone asked me what the price of a year on Nutrisystem would be. This person felt that she had a significant amount of weight to lose (over 100 pounds) and she felt that it was pretty safe bet that she would be on the diet for a year or more before she lost all of the weight that she wanted to loose. So, she was looking for information as to what her yearly costs would be. I will run the numbers to answer these questions in the following article.
Pricing On A Year's Worth Of The Nutrisystem Basic Plan: To keep things simple, right now I'll be focusing on the women's basic plan. I feel that this is the most popular plan and many of the specialty plans (like the vegetarian and the diabetic) are priced in exactly the same way. When you're ready to place an order on this diet, you'll need to decide if you want to order the foods a la carte (or individually) or if you want to go with a package. As a general rule, buying in bulk is always cheaper and this diet is no exception. The packages work out to be much more inexpensive.
The basic women's package starts at $299.95 for a month's worth of food. If you multiplied this by twelve months over the course of a year, you would get $3599.40. But, this is before coupons. Each month, the company offers coupons codes that will typically give you up to three weeks of food free of a relatively significant money amount off your total. You could probably save at least several hundred dollars this way.
The Cost Of A Year's Worth Of Nutrisystem Select (The More Premium Plan:) The company does have a frozen food line which is more expensive. Many people feel that the additional costs is worth it for the arguably better foods. (I like foods in both the basic and select lines. Each has good tasting meals to offer.) If you're going with a package, the select line runs about $380 per month. Multiply this by twelve to get your yearly costs and you're looking at $4560. Now, this is before coupons also. You can usually use the discount codes with any of the monthly packages. As you can see, this is more expensive than the basic plan. But it's arguably less expensive than trying to cook or prepare your own diet foods. Plus, the convenience of having your meals provided has always counted for a lot, at least for me.
The Yearly Price Of Nutrisystem Flex: The company does offer a part time plan and it's called the flex program. It's the cheapest program offered as a month's worth of meals is only around $234.95 with auto ship. It's important to understand that you're getting less meals though. This is because you take off two days every week. Still, the yearly costs of this plan is the cheapest at $2819.40, which certainly isn't bad.
You Typically Wouldn't Pay For This Diet By The Year: I understand that the woman who wrote to me was just trying to figure out what she might spend over a year on this diet. But, this isn't usually how you would buy or pay for your meals. As I alluded to, most people typically go month to month with auto ship as this is cheaper. You only have to set up once, it's easy to cancel if you reach your goals earlier, and you don't have to worry about running out of food or forgetting to order more.
The Nutrisystem foods have a long shelf life, but it doesn't make sense to order them months in advance. Doing this might mean that you can't take advantage of the coupon codes that change every month. And, who knows? You may reach your goal earlier and might not need to be on the diet for an entire year anyway. And, there's never a yearly fee or membership costs for Nutrisystem. You only pay for your meals and nothing else.
