All you need to do is go through you house and find all the things you no longer want. Once you have all the things you want to get rid of, go through them and set prices. Remember, its a garage sale so people will be looking for bargains. Don't over price or you won't make any money. There are certain laws that regulate garage sales so make sure you get all that squared away before you take the leap.
Other then that, just go to WalMart or your local hardware store and buy a few garage sale signs you can put up in your hard. Call your local newspaper and place a simple classified ad, they don't cost much, and you are ready to start selling your stuff.

The alternative to having a garage sale is to sell your stuff online. There are plenty of sites out there that allow you to place ads for free. Just do a simple Google search and you will find plenty. When you sell online, you have the benefit of being able to reach literally millions of people. You have the ability to reach people who are outside of your local town or city. A big disadvantage is that you will have to ship the items once they are purchased. If you are selling big, heavy items, this can be a problem.
