When it comes to healthy hair, it is not just what you put on your head that counts --- it is what food you eat
. Shampoo and conditioner are the basics of Hair Care but it cannot give you the healthy hair that you desire. For more luxurious hair do possible, youll need to step out of the salon or shower and dig into the kitchen.
According to a hair expert, the human hair grows 6 inches every year and the foundation of all our new hair as well as skin and nail growth is the nutrients that we eat. A healthy diet will definitely give you stronger and healthier cells throughout your entire body --- inside and out. Although you can already find supplements in the store such as dietary supplements marketed to thicken hair or make hair grow faster, try to get the nutrients you need from foods whenever possible. Beware of these supplements as it may have negative effects.
To have a healthy new hair, you need to have the right food that will stimulate the growth of your hair. Some of the things that you have to include in your diet are fish, green vegetables, nuts, beans, eggs and milk. At the same time drink lots of water.
Salmon, Oysters and Oily Fish
When it comes to fish, health and hair experts recommend salmon. It is loaded with omega-3 fatty acids, filled with vitamin B-12 and iron that are needed to support scalp health. Another food that can lead to getting a healthy hair is the oyster. Oysters are a good source of the powerful antioxidant zinc (key to love and hair-boosting abilities). In addition, you can also get zinc from beef or lamb.
Cereals and Nuts
Legumes should also be a part of your hair care diet. Kidney beans, lentils and the like provide protein for healthy hair growth and also iron, zinc and biotin. Have a hearty whole grains including breakfast cereals for a healthy dose of zinc, iron and Vitamin B.
Eggs and Poultry
Eggs should also be a part of your healthy diet because it is one of the best protein sources that you can find. They also contain biotin and Vit. B-12; which are important beauty nutrients. While the high quality protein that chicken and turkeys provide helps give you a healthy hair that you want. The poultry provides iron with a high degree of bioavailability (meaning body can easily reap its benefits).
Vegetables
Dark green vegetables such as spinach, broccoli and Swiss chard are excellent source of vitamins A and C which the body needs to produce sebum. Sebum is the bodys natural hair conditioner secreted by our hair follicles. Vegetables also provide iron and calcium. Carrot, a root vegetable, is an excellent source of A Vitamins. Vitamin A promotes a healthy scalp with a good vision.
Milk
Low fat dairy products are great sources of calcium (an important mineral for hair growth). Products like skim milk and yogurt also contain whey and casein.
