HP DV6T Review

I just purchased a brand new PC, and I wanted to share my review of it for anyone out there that is looking at getting a new computer, especially an HP. The one I got is the HP DV6T, which I really like a lot. I have been a PC user for as long as I can remember, but after hearing all the hype about Macs I thought I would make the switch this last go-around. That was until I found the HP Pavilion DV6T which blows any other PC that I've had out of the water. Let me explain why I like this computer so much.

First off, the keyboard and other exterior features of this computer are very impressive. The keys are soft and easy to type on, but very sturdy at the same time. I like the size of the keyboard too it seems to be more comfortable than even the Macs I've tried. The touch pad below the keyboard is nice too because it's big enough to be convenient but not so large that it gets in the way. There are also some application buttons on the left side of the keyboard for quick access to things like email, internet, media center, calculator, etc. That is a feature I never thought I would use, but it turns out I use those buttons every day. I also love the volume and music controls at the top. This control panel is great for programs like iTunes because you can manage your playlists pretty much from your keyboard without having to scroll through the program.

Let's talk performance for a minute. A lot of PC users complained about the upgrade from Windows XP to Windows Vista, and I think for the most part they had a good argument because a lot of the changes didn't make sense. Now, though, Microsoft has really stepped it up a notch with Windows 7 which has many noticeable differences from Vista. The processor is very solid in the Select and Quad editions as well. I use a lot of programs at the same time, and even using video editing software and other large software applications does not slow the DV6T down one bit. I have never heard the fan, and I've also never felt the computer get hot even after several hours of use. Also, the battery life is very solid. If I'm in high performance mode then I can get at least 3 or 4 hours out of it, but if I'm in power save mode and working in Excel or Word I can get more than 6 probably.

Just as a side note, I highly recommend the touch screen option for this HP laptop. It makes things like web browsing and using the media center so much faster and easier. I love having the option of using my touch pad, touch screen or mouse depending on what it is that I'm doing with the computer. In my opinion, it's definitely worth the money to get this upgrade.
