Is your business website in need of a major overhaul
? As business owners we are always somewhat busy with the general day to day running of our companies which can sometimes leave us with very little time to update websites and blogs. One thing we must remember that our business website can potentially be at the forefront of our business itself, I know personally that if I we're to let my website down my business wouldn't last very long at all.
The Importance of keeping your business website up to date is paramount; you don't need me to explain how important it is to you. Ok maybe I will. I have found that if I don't keep my website updated regularly i.e. at least once or twice a week, I'll notice that my site will at least drop a few places from the top of the search engine results on certain keywords. I know it is probably difficult writing new content for your website every other day but that's where having a blog on your site comes into play. Your blog can be updated with anything and everything to do with your business on a regular basis which will keep your website updated with fresh content for the search engine creepy crawlies to munch on.
Other than that generally updating information on your site will ensure that your visitors know you're still in business and that you're not in dormant or have taken a permanent vacation.
Top Tips
Ok so let's take a look at some top tips to keep your website in good service.
1. If your site doesn't have a blog or news section or you do have one but haven't updated it recently then get on the case.
2. Check that all your meta tag titles and description are still relevant to your main landing pages. I hear so many webmasters bragging on about how this is no longer important as search engines don't really crawl titles and descriptions much anymore, personally I don't buy it.
3. Update your websites content and keywords.
4. Update images making sure that you tag them with short descriptions.
5. Update your contact details; this is probably the most important update.
