Gel Nails | Sculpting Gel Nails With Uv Gel
Sculpting gel nails with UV gel requires thorough knowledge of the application procedure to get the application right
. The steps below cover the basic application process for 3 step gel system sculpting.
1. Clean your hands and nails thoroughly using a sanitizer and then push back the cuticles and remove the secondary skin from your nail plate. This can be done using a stainless steel or a plastic cuticle pusher.
2. Once this is done, take a 180 grit file and remove all shine from the nails and shape the free edge. Make sure to remove all the dust from the nails with a lint free nail wipe.
3. Next apply a thin layer of base gel to the entire nail to ensure the whole nail is covered. Stroke the brush from the cuticle to the free edge and ensure that the gel does not touch the surrounding skin. Apply the base gel very thin so that there is maximum adhesion. Also brush the gel on to the nail well in all directions so that you can get an even coverage.
4. Now cure the gel for 1 minute and use a UV lamp that is specific to your system and cure the gel for the recommended timing. Do not remove the tacky layer when done.
5. After curing for a minute, apply the nail forms.
6. Take a good amount of white builder gel on your brush and start at the smile line and apply towards the free edge. Work from the left of the smile line to the right and then work the gel down and back to the left. Create a square shape and fill in the middle. You can use another small brush with a little alcohol to clean the edges.
7. Once the whole hand is done, cure it for 3 minutes. It is best to cure one finger at a time for 10 seconds to stop it from leveling too much.
8. Next apply the builder gel. Start at the stress point just before the smile line and work it back side to side towards the cuticle area. Then pull it back down and over the stress point. Keep going down to cap the free edge. Add an extra gel line along the stress point to add strength and form a slight arch.
9. Once the builder gel application is complete, cure the gel for 3 minutes.
10. Once the gel is cured, remove the nail forms and cure the underside of the nail for 1 minute.
11. Remove the tacky layer with alcohol and file and shape the nails as desired. You would want your nail thin at the cuticle and free edge but thicker at the stress point so that you get a natural shape.
12. Next smoothen the nails with a buffer block and then wipe the nails. You can also buff your nails with a sand band for additional smoothness.
13. Apply a coat of finishing gel just like polish and ensure it evenly covers your entire nail. This gel needs to be applied thinner than the builder gel. The finishing gel will self level nicely and you will find a great shine finish.
14. Now cure the gel again for 3 minutes and then remove the tacky layer.
15. As the last step, apply cuticle oil, clean under the free edge and also file up any rough edges and you are done with your nails looking beautiful.
