The GBC Falcon 3064-1 is one of the wider laminators available and generally appeals to larger offices that specifically need a large, versatile machine able to accommodate a variety of materials. Strengths:
This laminator can take items up to 64 inches wide. This is perfect for posters, banners, maps, blueprints and more. Film gauge can be up to 10mil and items can go through as thick as one inch. Film rolls can be up to ten inches on a three inch core. Items are processed anywhere from 0-18 feet per minute at temperatures as hot as 300 degrees, depending on what is optimum for your materials.
A digital display controls this machine and keeps the user aware of the current status. Current temperature and pressure information is shown, eliminating guesswork. The display swivels to either side of the machine for extra convenience.
GBC's patented Advanced Electrical Safety System protects the operator from accidental injury. Fiber optic sensors completely line both nips to prevent any blind spots. If an obstruction is detected, such as fingers or other objects getting too close, the dynamic brake system instantly stops the rollers so nothing gets caught. This system provides maximum safety without compromising quality.
Bi-directional operation allows both hot and cold lamination to happen simultaneously. The foot pedal can be placed on either side for hands free operation. Adjustable nip rollers allow cold lamination to occur just after thermal processing so you don't have to wait between jobs.
Both the pull and heat rollers are independently variable for additional control. The pull rollers can be mechanically adjusted to allow materials as thick as one inch through for laminating or mounting. Intuitive controllers monitor and maintain a steady temperature for peak performance.
The superior clutch helps to ensure completely flat and smooth output. A channeled air-cooling system and large chill idler roller further guarantee crystal clear lamination by eradicating waves from thermal output.
Cleaning this device is easy with the high release silicone rollers. Film rolls are easily loaded and unloaded, thanks to the swing out feature.
Two integrated trimmers, one on each side, make releasing laminated documents simple.
GBC protects this product with a one year warranty on parts and 90 days coverage on labor.
Weaknesses:
With such a large, feature-full machine, it's hard to imagine a downside. But size is only a benefit if it's something you need. You should know this device weighs almost 1500 pounds and stands just under 6 feet tall and 7 feet wide. As long as your office can accommodate these dimensions, you won't have a problem.
One nice thing would be the ability to save jobs in memory for later. Since the device is easily programmed, this isn't a big deal for most users.
