Apart from this, you would also need to provide attractive design of the letter to draw the attention from your readers. You could use images or interesting introduction. Usually readers would only spend 10 seconds to browse the first few sentences of the letter and consider whether they should continue to read. If you cannot get these seconds to create a good impression, your letter would go to the trash.

Sometimes, you would inevitably include some professional words in the articles in the mail. It might increase the reliability of you because the readers would think that you are professional. However if the jargons or difficult words are used too frequently, your readers would feel annoyed. And they probably would not remain so patient to read the letters.

One of the things that are difficult for beginners of direct mail sales letters would be promoting the products with suitable praising. Sometimes people would be too silly that they strongly advise people to do this and that. It would make their readers think that they are hard-selling the products instead of telling the truth about the products or the services provided by them. They would not trust the content in the letter because the words are too unrealistic.

Thus, you have to make sure that everything in the letter is true. You should try to list a few bad points about the products so that your clients know that you are objective. Of course, you should try to hide some serious bad points if you worry that these big problems would make your readers not willing to purchase.
