Obviously an upright unit has more space to fit a larger bin but the DC31 Animal does a remarkable job of using the available space it has to create a comparatively large bin capacity. Each unit comes with tools and accessories for specific jobs.
The DC25 Animal upright vacuum comes with a combination accessory tool, a mini turbine head and a stair tool. The DC31 Animal comes with a combination accessory tool and a crevice tool. The Dyson handheld vacuum is already specifically designed for stair use and thus does not need an extra tool for that job. Also the Dyson DC25 Animal is not able to provide the precise crevice service that the DC31 Animal is able to handle. The DC25 Animal has a maximum reach of just over 40 ft where as the DC31 Animal is cordless and able to travel anywhere. Because it is powered by a battery the Dyson handheld vacuum is only able to be operated for 6-10 minutes depending on the setting used.
Comparing the Dyson DC25 Animal and the Dyson DC31 Animal it is obvious that each unit is well designed for its specific purpose.
