The allotted examination dates for the Uniform CPA Exam is basically the same all over the United States, including the state of New York. Every year, there are 4 exam windows that we can choose from, according to our preference.
We should bear in mind however that when choosing windows for the CPA Exam Dates in New York, completion of the exams should be done within the given period of the window of our choice.
What this means is that we cannot take two parts of the CPA Exam during the first window and then take the next two parts in a second window. So for instance, if we select the window covered within the months of April and May; we cannot take only two parts of the CPA Exam and then proceed to the next window which is from to July to August for the next two parts.
However, we are also given enough time within each window to pas and complete all the tests included in the CPA Exam; and we can sit for as many tests as we want within each window until we pass all four sections of the exam.
For the CPA Exam Dates in New York, the windows are from April to May, July to August, October to November and January to February. These schedules are fixed and we should take note that there will be no CPA Exam Dates in New York for the months of June, September, December and March.
CPA Exam Educational Requirements for New York
In brief, the educational requirements for exam candidates in New York are the following: 120 hours of semester credits with a Bachelor's Degree; semester credits for the mandatory 120 hours should include courses in Financial Accounting and Reporting; Taxation; Cost or Managerial Accounting; and Auditing and Attestation.
There is no residency requirement and no US Citizenship requirement as well. However, for those who wish to get a license in New York, 150 hours of semester credits are necessary effective August 1, 2009.
On the other hand, the initial 120-mandatory semester credits may be considered in lieu of the new 150-mandatory semester credits provided that applicants for licensure completed the 120-hour coursework prior to August 1, 2009 and applications were submitted to the State Education Department before August 1, 2009; and the Bachelor's Degree or higher was earned prior to said date.
We can be eligible for licensure based on these conditions even if we have completed the CPA Exam within the CPA Exam Dates in New York after August 1, 2009.
