a comprehensive range of display products, conducted a design contest during the fall of 2009. The main idea behind the design contest was to collect designs and build a rich design resource for trade show pop up murals.
To get a new design off the ground is the trickiest and the hardest part -- both for the designer and the company hiring a designer. The creative output demands imagination and inspiration, and a bank of reference material can be quite helpful to get started on a new design.
Benchmark Imaging and Displays gallery, for the designers, is like fodder for their imagination, while for the companies, its a comprehensive reference source to help them visualize the complete layout, and imagine the look of their next pop-up trade show graphic project. The contest has enabled the company to add plenty of new designs to the gallery.
The company received a record number of entries for the Benchmark Pop-Up Graphic Design Contest. The winning design needed to focus on selling a company, service, or product. The judges selected the designs based on overall execution, attractiveness, and how well the designs conveyed companys image, and the identification of the company and the product.
Reason Amplifier is the winner of the contest. The display was executed on a 4 panel Benchmark SNAP! with wooden textures and a vintage feel. The companys design displayed quality and crispness of the graphics as well as the overall execution. The judges believed that the winning design created a mood, and gave the viewer a feeling. Also, the identification of the company and the product could be easily determined.
The design of heart & core Athletic Apparel came second. The judges noted the unifying use of color in this companys design. The design created interest by reversing the shadow from black to white in the major graphic and varying the images from large to small. The use of graphics of women engaged in sporting activities also impressed the judges, as the graphics set a clear theme for what the company does: create womens athletic apparel. The design was executed using a pop up display unit to imply and emphasize the purpose of creating an impression of motion.
The judges gave the third spot to Motions at Home Salon Care. The bright colors of the design attracted the attention, and also the high quality execution. The design created a positive feeling, and it also shared the companys branding and the goal of the products.
