A Review Of The Brilliant Lg Optimus 7
The Optimus 7 is the newest handset from LG to operate on the new Windows 7 operating system
, an OS that Microsoft hope in time will rival the likes of Android and Apples ios.
Looking at the design of the Optimus 7, and first impressions are very good. The phone is one of the nicest looking you are likely to encounter. The backplate of the phone is all metal, making the phone both look and feel expensive. This metallic finish is only broken up by the centrally placed camera lens. Around the sides of the chassis you will find the volume keys along with a dedicated camera button which is always welcomed as it saves having to access various menus in order to take a photograph. A 3.5mm headphone jack enables a choice of headphones to be used with the unit and a micro USB port allows for the essential synchronisation with a laptop or PC. The front of the phone is dominated by the high quality display that is on offer. Thanks to Microsofts insistence that Windows 7 mobiles boast a minimum specification, the result is a screen with a very high 480 x 800 resolution. All of the features you would expect from a high end smartphone are present on the screen, thus a proximity sensor and an accelerometer are both used for auto shut off and auto rotate functions. The screen also utilises multi touch technology. Being a capacitive touchscreen, on using the handset the responsiveness is superb, and at 3.8", the display is also large enough to display complex web pages clearly with excellent clarity. Another thing that is common with all handsets on this operating system is the uniformed three buttons beneath the screen, however on this model they are physical button rather than capacitive ones.
A large capacity battery comes supplied with the LG Optimus 7. At 1500mAh, you can expect to get around a day and a halves use between charges, which is slightly more than on the majority of smartphones available. Like other Windows 7 models, the unit does not support any removable storage, thus a micro SD card slot is not present. This should not prove to much of a stumbling block for many users however as the unit does boast a massive 16GB of internal memory. This memory is of course essential if you want to store a variety of media files that the phone can support. The camera facility can capture an image at a resolution of 5 million pixels. An autofocus facility helps ensure your snaps are as clear as possible, and those sometimes tricky photographs taken in poor light are helped by the inclusion of a good quality LED flash. Video wise the phone can capture High Definition quality footage. The 720P resolution ensures you movies look superb, whether played on the phones own screen or on another device using the excellent DNLA features that the handset supports.
The LG Optimus 7 is a stylish phone that benefits from a top quality screen and the innovative new OS. Couple this with the great media features and you have a smartphone great for both new smartphone owners as well as seasoned users.
