Beat The Summer Slump By Saving Money

Is a slower summer income getting you down? We all look forward to summer, but many professions see a slowdown in business during this time. Lots of peope go on vacations, or are just concerned about attending to some types of business they may use during the cooler months. While it is always better to plan for slowdowns all year, this is not always possible. Here are some quick summer budget bill fixes.

Is your summer air conditioning bill always pretty high? I know that some are actually scary. You cannot always avoid some increase in your electtric bill, but you can do some things to keep it down as much as possible.

Can you turn your thermostat up to 78 degrees when you are home, and can you set it even higher when nobody is home? Every one degree change should save about 3 percent of your energy use. So if you had been setting your air conditioner to seventy-two degrees, a six degree difference should save you 18 percent!

Consider this. A change of three degrees can save you ten percent. If you can even turn your thermostat up higher when nobody is home, you could save a lot more.

If you cannot stand the heat, try using fans. They make rooms feel cooler by circulating the air. Portable fans are very cheap, and ceiling fans should pay for themselves in a short time.

Do you need another bill to attack. What about insurance? Since the insurance business is very large and competitive, it is often very simple to find a better deal from another insurer. Your old company may not be giving you the best rates out of loyalty.

You can find internet comparison sites that make it very easy to shop for insurance. Think about saving a modest ten percent, for example, if your family autos and home add up to about $300 a month. You could save over three hundred dollars a year. I am sure you can find some good use for that money.
