The Conscientious Traveler

Perhaps one of the most rewarding activities anyone can engage upon in a lifetime is traveling. It permits one to open his mind to an entire new world of possibilities, experience, knowledge and ideas; all while pleasurably drowning the senses in an ocean of sensations and, might I daresay, emotions.

However, some travelers do not consider being cautious with their actions, especially in keeping their trashes. They may be committed with their travel in a manner that they are more than willing to explore even the hidden secrets of their destination but they do not commit in maintaining the beauty of these places for they leave marks and scraps that ruin natures limpidness.

Through the years of traveling, I have witnessed how some of my co-travelers forget that they do not own the places they visit. They treat it like their personal spaces where they can just throw rubbishes around like it is the most normal thing in the world.

One who throws his junk without considering the consequences that it may bring may not directly or immediately experience its effect, but isnt a common knowledge how weather abnormally changes causing calamities in different parts of the world? Peoples irresponsibility has taken its toll on Mother Earth and everyone can clearly see it - from landslides to flash floods, and even the contamination of water that kills the species that leave under.
The Conscientious Traveler

Due to the increasing environmental crisis, tourism industries are getting affected by the depleting number of tourists in certain areas. Recently, were heard of hurricanes and endless storms striking Brazil and China, and some areas in Asia and North America seem to be losing their grip on the maintenance of their once beautiful ecosystem. All of these are the outcome of our every action in disregarding our concern for the environment.

Reading this might be too much to understand, but my intention was to awaken your senses of the reality facing our lives today, and for all travelers to use their heads before doing any actions. Like most life advisors would tell you, we need to grow up and teach ourselves the consequences of our every action. Despite the laws and rules governing the protection of the nature, it all boils down to us, the individual tourist.

Keep in mind that the protection of our planet lies in our own hands. And these hands can also be the cause of the worlds devastation that is why we have to be conscious and cautious of our actions. Bear in mind that every time you visit a wonderful place, take nothing but pictures leave nothing but footprints kill nothing but time.
