subject: Zac Brown Band Tickets - Brown Thrives With A Laidback Country Style [print this page] It might be hard to envision Zac Brown as a country crooner. With a full bushy beard and stocking cap, he hardly fits the fashion requirements associated with country music, but Brown is not one to fall into stereotypes, especially when it comes to his music. In fact, Zac Brown believes that he might be able to cover it all, and he practically has, as Bonnaroo, a rock jam festival which attracts legions of neo-hippies, followed by the CMA Music Festival, which would attract just the opposite, have recently been on his to-do list. Brown told the Columbus Dispatch, "Bonnaroo was my favorite show that we've done in a long time. I love the challenge of being in front of people who haven't heard us before. Good music is good music, period."
This year his band the Zac Brown Band won the fan-voted "breakthrough prize" at the CMT Music Awards for the hit single "Chicken Fried," and the band continues to attract fans of all stripes. Zac Brown had a passion for music at an early age - he tried out his vocal chords at age seven - and realized that he could strike a tune. He started playing various music gigs while he was in high school, focusing mainly on covers of pop and country ballads. In college he formed a two-piece band called Far from Einstyne, which featured acoustic guitar and drums, but in 2002 he formally assembled the first Zac Brown Band.
One year later he formed the Home Grown label, now called Southern Ground. The band released Home Grown in 2003, which featured the songs "Every Little Bit," "On This Train," "Better Day" and "These Days." In 2005 the Zac Brown Band released Live from the Rock Bus Tour, which featured a variation of live tracks like "Chicken Fried," "Where the Boat Leaves From" and "Every Little Bit."
Foundation, released in 2008, featured the band's popular platinum-selling hit single "Chicken Fried." The album was hailed as their best yet, as it was well-produced, polished and fine-tuned. Other tracks that appeared on the record were "Where the Boat Leaves From," "Free" and "Different Kind of Fine." Foundation also enabled the Zac Brown Band to be exposed to a wider audience, and they went on an extensive tour in support of the album.
These days Brown is still focused on his music and has been expanding his horizons. Recently the frontman bought a stake of land for his own summer camp, a venture that he wants to run in collaboration with Brain Balance, an organization that works specifically with children that have ADD and autism. In addition, Brown is finding his way into the kitchen by using recipes that he developed at his own restaurant for an upcoming line of barbecue sauces.
Zac Brown has solidified his spot in the music industry with a refreshing offering of country tunes that are both unique and down to earth. Be sure to catch the Zac Brown Band live when they come to a city near you.
