Keep Walkways Clear And Labelled To Save Unnecessary Trips And Falls

The importance for businesses to take good care of their employees and the working environment has been made more and more clear in recent years, especially as the number of corporate responsibility and workplace accident claims have risen. As well as cases like this happening it can also mean your business is harmed in other ways such as a worker being off work because of injuries or your business being closed whilst a safety review takes place.

It certainly pays to be vigilant and make all hazards known to workers as well as visitors; this will help to ensure the safety of everyone at your workplace but also the smooth running of your business too. The majority of these measures tend to apply only to the more dangerous working environments such as industrial working environments where heavy machinery and moving parts will be present and could cause injuries or even deaths.

In environments like these youll need to make sure that any areas where machinery is involved are clearly marked out. Your floor can be a great way to mark out where it is safe to stand or even provide directions such as coloured lines going to specific areas such as first aid stations and fire assembly points.

There are still office or retail environments that could be hazardous too, shiny floors can become slippery when wet and has often been the cause of many trips and falls. Sometimes you cant be there to mop up any spillages or rainwater and so there are other measures youll be interested in such as non-slip mats. These mats are made of rubber and dont move around when walked on, hence anyone walking on them will not have to worry about slipping.

Safety signs are important in all areas where there are potential hazards, many people will be familiar with the folding signs that indicate a wet floor but permanent signs fixed on the wall are going to provide a clear indication of any hazards without having to worry about your sign falling over or being taken.

A lot of the signs you can purchase are related to making sure that your business is covered legally but the main purpose of these safety signs is to warn pedestrians, workers or guests that there is a hazard present and that they should heed the warning to protect themselves.
