The concept of Romantic Comedy is not new. From obscure and crude comedies like American Pie series to some classic movies like 50 first dates, we have a large spectrum of movies that have dealt the some topic but with such a barrage of movies only the original ideas can survive and the rest are sent in the darkness. Perfect Combination is one such movie that does not boasts of anything original or fresh. The story has the same elements like so many before it but what stands out is the acting in the movie. It is top rate as a result the movie is watchable.
The story revolves around a handsome and successful executive Rick (Christian Keyes in his smashing new avatar). He leads a very simple life style but then one day he get a promotion and that too when he is just shy of being 30. All this makes him into thinking that he still does not have an extraordinary girl in his life.
To find the girl of his dreams he registers himself in a dating agency having a corny name "Perfect Combination". Now in this internet age since these services don't have much business as a result the people Rick gets to go on a blind date with are atrocious girls that can make any sane people go crazy.
The one part that makes this movie interesting is the chemistry Rick shares with his three friends. All of them are just like him and although they have different personalities but when together the acting seems so natural that results in some heartwarming moments.
Although the film is spot on almost all the aspects the only point where it falters, is on the way the idea of blind dating is presented upon. This point becomes quite clear with the scenes from the movie where Rick is trying to find his girl and he is getting are women with grotesque tastes or some so timid that they are afraid to open their mouth.
It is true that Perfect Combination is not the funniest, or the perfect movie dealing with notions of heart but it has its own moments. Although the story is outdated and the movie has nothing novel to offer but the new actors present in this movie lift the whole burden on their sturdy shoulders and carry the whole movie forward with perfection.
