subject: Favorite Things To Do When Visiting Phoenix [print this page] Phoenix, Arizona is an area that offers an extraordinary amount of attractions and activities for the young and old alike. If a person has only one day to experience the Phoenix area, trying to choose the best things to see and do would be a formidable task. Metro Phoenix has so much to offer that it's impossible to pick and chose only a handful of things. Whatever a person decides to do, there will always be more activities left over to accommodate future excursions.
With so many choices available, a person may wish to consider what kind of time frame they have to work with and how many hours they have available for each activity, and then try to format a schedule and see how many different things they could reasonably expect to see and do within the time frame available.
For the sports fan, a visit to Chase Field (formerly Bank One Ballpark) would probably rank high on their list. It may be nice to take a look inside the main gate of the ball field without being surrounded by masses of people. This way a person could really have time to appreciate the artwork on its upper levels, and also the colorful map of the state of Arizona that's depicted on its floor. If an individual is someone more inclined towards artwork and paintings, they may enjoy a walk through the beautiful Heard museum, which boasts over 32,000 works of art. Boyce Thompson Arboretum offers over 3200 different types of desert plants along with over 200 species of birds for the nature lover to examine and enjoy.
For something a little less traditional, a person may choose a drive through the Apache Trail, where they will see sights such as Saguaro Lake, Goldfield Ghost Town, and the Theodore Roosevelt Dam site. South Mountain Park also offers a variety of outdoor activities such as hiking, horseback riding, or mountain biking. One may also choose to simply drive to Dobbins Point, the highest point in the park, to enjoy the spectacular view.
For the animal enthusiast, The Phoenix Zoo comes highly recommended, and is opened every day of the year. An animal lover may also enjoy the petting ranch or camel rides offered by the Rawhide Western Town and Steakhouse.
In addition to the attractions listed above, some things to consider putting on a "can't miss" list would include the following:
* Frank Lloyd Wright's Taliesin West
* Montezuma Castle and Tuzigoot National Monuments
* Scottsdale Artwalk
* Arizona Mystery castle
* Arizona Science Center
* Camelback Mountain
Some excellent restaurants in the Phoenix area include;
* T. Cooks
* The Capital Grille
* Different Point of View
* Top of the Rock and Rita's Kitchen
Whatever a persons individual interests may be, it's a safe bet to assume they will find a satisfactory amount of attractions and activities to enjoy in the Phoenix area. Most tourists, after a trip to Phoenix, will find themselves wanting to return for another visit.
