Jim Rohn said that you dont have to love what you do; you have to love the opportunities. That couldnt be truer when it comes to home business opportunities. Home businesses initially consist of tasks that can be both difficult and frustrating.
I have been thinking about it for quite some time and wanted to share some of the steps I think all home based business entrepreneurs MUST take before embarking on their online journey:
Figure out what you want to do.
What is your passion? What gets you up in the morning? If youre and athlete, you would probably be better at selling or promoting sports goods. When it comes to finding the right home business opportunities there really isnt a shortage of options. Direct sales, MLM, Editing and Analyzing, promoting, marketing; the list goes on. Decide what field you want to be in and choose a product or service in that field.
Find the right work environment
You dont need a fancy office or an empty room in the house. You only need to find a quite space with good light and few distractions. Initially you are going to spend time setting up your online business so you want to get comfortable to ensure the creative juices are flowing. High speed internet connection and an up to date computer are essential.
Ensure you have something to fall back on
Contrary to what you might be exposed to on the internet daily, it is not that easy or simple to start an online home business. Most people who find success online come from a back ground of at least 3 to 4 years of online marketing. If you are truly just starting out and dont have a lot of experience online, you need to give yourself a few months to become comfortable with online trade. Therefore you should have some back up funds to carry you through the start up phase of your online empire.
Pick a memorable domain name
Your domain name is like your store name in the virtual world of the internet. It will become your brand and customers will recognize you by it. Choose a domain name that is unique and describes the product or service you are providing. Remember it is about brand power, and your name is your brand.
Master your Marketing
Invest in literature and information products that will help you become a master of your trade. This is literally an investment that will pay huge dividends in the future; there is no substitute for investing in yourself and your knowledge about what you are selling or providing.
Build a great website that will be appealing to your niche market. Then find all the channels to market it through, whether it be paid advertising through search engines, social media, blogs or article writing with a link to your site at the end; any form of advertising is good.
When Jim Rohn said that you do not need to love what you do, but love the opportunity, I think I know what he meant. I dont necessarily love sitting on the computer all day building marketing campaigns and fine tuning my online empire, but I DO love the opportunity of what that could essentially mean.
And that is to be able to help countless people to a better life. To be able to work from anywhere in the world and have my business running 24/7 while I get to do the things I am truly passionate about. That is a home business opportunity I cannot overlook.
