subject: Have Passion For Your Business [print this page] Today I want to ask you a questionToday I want to ask you a question. How much do you really love what you get to get up and do every single day to make a living for yourself? The topic I want to talk about today is being true to yourself and being authentic to everyone else.
Being authentic to other people outside of yourself is the same concept as you being true to yourself, its just that its projected outside of you. You know one of the people that Ive always really, really admired in their profession is my mother.
My mother is an educator. Shes been an educator for over 30 years. Shes gone from classroom teaching to assistant principalship, principalship, assistant superintendent and she really, really loves what she does.
She actually tells me a story about how when she was back in college my father actually tried to get her to go into a different profession that he felt was going to make a certain amount of money, but she didnt want to do that because it wasnt what she was passionate about.
She was passionate about kids and because of her passion she is one of the best educators in the country. Ive watched her take schools that have been graded as an F and turn them around to A and B schools in a matter of a couple of years.
She has very high standards for her craft and she really enjoys it and when I think about people like my mom and I contrast that to my own career, I was never able to find something that I loved to do in a job so I had to go out and create a business that gave me that kind of passion.
But passion in whatever you do is very important because lack of passion is one of the reasons why people dont reach the height of success even within companies and within organizations.
Im not sure, in your business you may have employees that you look to, or maybe youre a manager in a particular company, and one of the reasons why people dont really achieve at the levels that they could is just because they arent passionate.
So people are finding what it is that they love to do is a big part of that and you owe it to yourself to make sure that you are either doing or working on growing into whatever it is that you can be passionate about.
Because you are robbing yourself when you dont get to have that feeling about what it is that you do so that you can experience success at the highest level that you possibly can. I know that even in a business sometimes you can get caught in that as well.
For years I would get into a business based on them making sense or on me liking the numbers but it really wasnt until I began choosing business based on me being passionate about what Ill be doing that I really began to enjoy it and also began to make more money.
So, I would say that no matter what it is that youre after to doing, make sure that youre passionate about it and if youre not passionate, you need to find something that you can be passionate about.
Start today transitioning into that so that youre not cheating yourself and you can live life to the fullest and you can be as happy as you deserve to be in what it is that you get up and have to do every single day to make your living.
