UK holidays can be as different from each other in Britain as holidays in countries on opposite sides of the globe, and there really is something for everyone. For families with children, there are all-inclusive adventure parks, providing endless entertainment and activities to keep the children occupied and having the time of their lives.
For couples looking for a quiet retreat, there are thousands of cosy, beautiful cottages to reside in while you explore the idyllic local countryside or seaside, or why not enjoy a boating holiday and meander around the network of East Anglian canals, stopping every couple of hours for refreshment in a traditional British pub?
UK holidays are far more relaxing than taking a break abroad. There is none of the hassle of organising passports, arriving at airports on time and suffering the now-rigorous airport security procedures, rising in the wee small hours to allow enough time to check in at the airport, or even hanging around the airport in terror while you watch engineers change the plane-you-are-supposed-to-be-boarding's faulty engine.
There is no landing exhausted at 4am in the morning with UK holidays, sleep-deprived and still a three-hour coach journey from your destination, you can simply make your way to your destination at your own pace without the usual associated stress and anxiety.
By taking UK holidays, you will also be doing your bit for the environment by cutting down on your air miles; this is further boosted if your arrive by public transport such as a train.
But what about the cost? Aren't holidays in the UK generally much more expensive 'once you get there'? This seems to have been a common mantra in the past by people who pedalled cheap European breaks, claiming that the costs of living in Britain were so much higher that a holiday abroad actually worked out cheaper.
In actual fact, it all depends on what you want to do once you get there. Attractions for children are generally priced similarly in many European countries but if you want to have a non-stop party-type break and spend money in bars every night, drinks in Britain can work out on the expensive side. However, since the credit crunch, the pound has become much weaker, and so you don't get as many Euros for your money, meaning activities such as eating and drinking abroad are now much more expensive than they were a couple of years ago.
All in all, UK holidays offer excellent value for money, and a chance to appreciate the fantastic country in which we live, which is different in every corner.
