subject: Purchasing The Most Appropriate Cooking Pans For Your Needs [print this page]

Cooking can be enjoyableCooking can be enjoyable. The one thing that people dread about, however, is cleaning. No wonder people are choosing for nonstick cookware to ease the cleaning part. However, not all cookware are created the same. It can be quite confusing if this is the first time you want to buy. That's why I write this article.

Among the first generation of nonstick cookware, Teflon has become popular for years. Although it works very well, the drawback is significant that it outweighs the benefit. For years, people have been using it for the nonstick feature. While during the manufacturing process, the toxic elements are driven out, still Teflon can release toxic particles and gases at high temperatures. For many people, that still sounds risky, especially when you don't know if the process of driving out toxins are effective.

The question is, should you give up the idea of using a non-stick fry pan? No, there are still other options. Over the years, technology to create safe nonstick surface has been introduced to the market. In some tests, they work just as well. And the price is just right.

You can find products with this new technology in many popular brands. However, this thing is relatively new. That means it has actually gone through test and proven useful. However, it does require that you handle it with care. No nonstick cookware is scratch resistance yet.

Stainless steel and aluminum are two types of materials often used to construct cookware. Both have their own benefits and drawbacks.

Stainless steel is called the king of metal because it is scratch resistant and durable. For those who hate cleaning, it is also ideal because it is relatively easy to clean. When you often cook acidic and alkaline foods, stainless steel cookware is the right tool to do it. The drawback is that it is not as well a heat conductor than aluminium.

Aluminium cookware tend to heat quickly as they are good conductor. You should avoid using it for cooking foods with acidic elements. Reaction with the metal will release some of the particles into the food.

Furthermore, you can find different types of aluminium cookware. Among them, anodized is considered the best. Cast is thicker than pressed but it retains heat so cooking is faster. Finally, pressed aluminium is cost effective. But it isn't as durable as others.

When choosing the right cookware, you have to take different factors into account. Volume of food determines the size of pans and pots that you need. Are you cooking for a large family? How big a pan do you need? What will you use the cookware for?

If you want the best tool for the job, look out for cookware sets as they are more complete. If you compare the price, many cookware sets are affordable. They look very nice too.
