subject: Looking For A Trip Destination? Head To Chester [print this page] The city of Chester, with years of history, is keen to boast about its heritage, as well as embracing the modern and fresh. This makes it the ideal venue for a perfect day trip, team building session or a long weekend away. Whether you're a corporate group looking for an adrenalin rush, a group of giggly girls on a hen weekend, or a couple on a romantic escape, you'll certainly find lots of activities in Chester to keep you busy!
When most people think of Chester, the Romans probably spring to mind, and so for all you budding historians, first on my list is the DEWA Roman Experience. This museum and tour based attraction, features Roman soldier patrol walks, reconstruction and archaeological remains, with the DEWA Experience able to offer a day which is tailored around you, meaning you can get your history lesson exactly how you want it.
If you prefer your traditions more refined, then keep your distance from the Roman hoards and pop into the luxurious Grosvenor Hotel for a spot of afternoon tea. The Grosvenor is one of the most luxurious hotels in the Cheshire area, so what could be lovelier than whiling away an afternoon there over tea, sandwiches and dainty cakes- you may even spot a celebrity or the mayor of Chester. If you want to add some extra sparkle to your day, then they also offer a champagne afternoon tea, for the ultimate in luxury.
If you prefer to be out and about, and love wildlife, the one of Chester's most popular attractions, Chester Zoo is definitely a must do! With over 7000 animals spanning 400 different species, you're bound to see your favourite animal there and there a regular feeding times which you can view, a range of animal talks and the opportunity to help some of the world endangered species.
For large groups, whether business or pleasure, you can't go far wrong with a visit to Chester Races. With meets throughout the summer, featuring ladies days and family events, you can either go all out, book a private space and put your most glam outfit on, or you can go for a more laid back affair and take your blanket and a picnic hamper. Either way it makes for a fabulous day out, and even better if your horse comes in.
If you're in Chester for the day, then any of these would make it a day to remember, or you could stay for a week and do them all, as well as sampling the culinary delights on offer in the evenings
