What I am talking about is a little more cleverly out of the box.
The cold hard fact is that if you have competition. Then you have got to create a a wedge between you and them. When I say wedge I really mean two things. Difference and Domination.
Difference: means identifying and creating a unique selling proposition. A unique selling proposition is something that your competition either can't or wont provide. For example if they are selling an ebook. You sell a "guide" with video instructions and audio followup. Where are you going to get the info from the guide? Why your competitors ebook or other of course.
Let me clarify I am not talking about plagiarism. I am talking about getting great ideas for what they are doing. And then doing it better. Don't reinvent the wheel. Innovate the wheel!
Domination: Now that you have an innovative product you have to "out internet them" or in other words dominate! So I bet your wondering what that means.
You need a site that has some major keywords they are using (should be like 3 word phrases with search). Name a site with those keywords and your in business. Also you need to dominate with other forms of traffic.
For instance I bet your competition isn't nearly as dominate in social media as you are about to be. Now if you start to groan now would be a good time to tell you that there are plenty of automated services that let you schedule your messages. But think about it every tweet and facebook message creates links from authoritative sites. Also get into a conversation or two and you will be amazed what type of business comes up without you ever asking.
Last Online Business Idea: so you might know how to do everything I mentioned. But have you ever done this? Build a sucks domain wordpress site. Here is how it works. Lets say your competition is a leader in your niche. And frankly they better be with all of this work. If your putting this much energy to beat up number 5 then your wasting your time (laughing).
So you create a site called ENTER COMPETITORS NAME HERE suck.com. What you are doing is vying to get the disgruntled or cautious searches. And usually your competitor hasn't thought of that. So here is what you put on that site. Ask the question if they suck and then explain that you don't know but you know who provides better products an service and link to your site.
You haven't slandered their name or anything your just answering the question with your site as the solution while gaining free traffic.
