subject: Are You Worthied To Be Followed? [print this page] I was told growing up that leaders have earned the right to be followed and my examples were the action heroes I saw on the big screen. This is probably no different than most people, however its nearly impossible to follow those examples with much success. My heroes in retrospect were ultra masculine, autocratic and no nonsense men who took action first and asked questions second.
Today, society requires leaders with high intellect, integrity, honest intent, current capabilities and the ability to provide results. In other words, we need leaders who know where they're going! Do you know where youre heading? Do you have the direction necessary to provide leadership to those around you? As 2010 quickly approaches its an opportune time to ask these questions of yourself. Im not suggesting that you make useless new year resolutions, but instead consider your intent; your what and your why. This is true leadership!
When youre capable of articulating your intent in the form of your what and why, or otherwise known as your agenda and motive, and your behavior is in alignment with these two youve earned the privilege to lead. This form of leadership makes you incredibly magnetic and surrounds you with other like minded individuals increasing the clout of your influence. This is the synergy of competent and responsible leadership and improves not only your life, but the lives of those whove been attracted to you.
