India is a land of rich cultural heritage and illustrious religions. For the same reason the tourist attractions in India have a charm of their own and display the rich historical legacy of our country. India has got several tourist attractions which are spread all across the states of our country.

You will find all sorts of beautiful sites from natural sceneries to man made structures; you will find an extensive variety of tourist attractions. There are lush green forests, streams, ice capped mountains, sunny beaches, artistically carved mosques and temples, a lot many museums as well as shopping arcades and many more entertainment centers.

When we talk about the India tourist attractions we tend to emphasize on the famous names in the North and South. The tourist attractions include many historical monuments, ancient temples and the architectural sites. If we start classifying these attractions according to their regions, we will find thousands of must visit places both in the North and South of India.

India is a republic in the Asian subcontinent in southern Asia. It can be divided into four main regions; North India, South India, East India and West India. The northern India prides itself on having some of the major tourist attractions of India. The tourists can experience grandeur of the Taj Mahal, which is still considered to be one of the wonders of the world. It is a symbol of love, built by the Mogul Emperor Shah Jahan in the 16th century in memory of his beloved wife.

The North Indian tourist attractions also include the Qutub Minar, Red Fort, Lotus Temple, Jama Masjid, Golden temple, Jaisalmer Fort, the Himalayan Mountain range, Hawa Mahal and many beautiful hill stations in the states of Uttaranchal and Himachal Pradesh.

The South Indian attractions are one of the favorites with the tourists. You can find places like Kerala Blackwaters, Ooty, Rock Fort temple, Golconda Fort, Char Minar and many such places in the south. South India is famous for its majestic temples. These include Meenakshi Temple, Somnathpur Temple, Tirupati Balaji Temple and many others.

You can also find many hill stations like Munnar Hill station, Ponmudi Hill Station, etc. The very famous Blackwater tour to Kerala in the South of India is considered to be one of the most enjoyable ways to spend your holidays. Kerala is known as Gods Own Country, and it welcomes people from across the world to enjoy the refreshing greens, the coconut water and also the famous exotic beaches of the state.

The tourist attractions are not only centered in the Northern and Southern parts of India, but also the Western and Eastern parts of India. You will find places like Jamnagar, Ajanta and Ellora caves, Ahmedabad in the western part of India. Goa is the smallest state of India and is famous for its beaches and night life. When we talk about the Eastern India, we cannot forget to mention the heritage city of Kolkata. It contains Victoria Memorial, Fort William, Eden Gardens, Botanical Garden and many other such interesting sites to visit.
