subject: Breast Cancer - Not Necessarily The End Of The World [print this page] All most everyone is familiar with the pink ribbon, the breast cancer logo. This logo was
first used by Susan G. Komen for the Cure during the early period of the 1990s. The
organization was called The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation at that time.
This logo was handed out to participants of a foot race in New York City. Soon the pink
ribbon became the symbol for breast cancer all around the world. One can see symbol on
many products during the month of October, the Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The
symbol can be found on expensive things including computers and on not so expensive
things including cosmetics. Those organizations that want to support the cause have two
options when it comes to finding a suitable logo. They can search on the internet for
logos that are either free or come with a small price tag. Otherwise they can have an artist
design the logo for them.
Breast cancer medication includes chemotherapy. Chemotherapy refers to not a specific
medication used for breast cancer. Rather it represents a tool used to cure breast cancer.
Some of this medication is given before the patient undergoes surgery. This kind of
treatment is called neoadjuvant therapy. The medication is given so that the size of the
tumor is reduced. This will help the surgeon remove the tumor. The medication given
after the patient has undergone surgery. These medications are given to destroy the tumor
cells that were not removed by the surgeon.
Medication taken to cure breast cancer has its side effects. The side effects include
vaginal dryness, vomiting, weight loss and hot flashes. Since each patient reaction
to medication varies it will take the doctor some time before the correct balance of
medication is achieved.
