Black Mountain's second album was a nominee for the 2008 Polaris Music Prize and was also nominated for 'Best Alternative Album' in the 2009 Juno Awards. It debuted on the UK Album Chart at No: 72. Franz Nicolay, of The Hold Steady, listed the album as one of his favourite releases in 2008.

In 2007, Black Mountain were featured on the soundtrack for the box-office hit movie Spider-Man 3, with their song "Stay Free".
