Tet, the Vietnamese New Year is one of the most joyous of celebrations to the Vietnamese people. This means spring has arrived and everything is new.

Every Vietnamese holiday is marked by the lunar cycle. They are very aware and educated about the phases of the moon and its power on the land. The New Year is celebrated when the first moon after the sun enters Aquarius. This event falls somewhere around late January and early February.

A couple more holidays that are based on the lunar cycle are Trung Thu, the coming of fall, and Confucius birthday. Both of them have different dates year to year.
