Promoting Small Business Marketing Using Video

Promoting a small business online is usually a combination of finding the methods which produce results, while trying to minimize the amount of time and money that is spent on online efforts, simply because there are limited amounts of both. This usually includes the use of techniques and methods like local SEO, which attempts to drive traffic both to a website, and in through the physical doors of the small business. There are other cost effective ways that a small business can create awareness of itself online though, and videos are a great way to do this.

Video marketing has become a more and more effective tool over the last several years. Previously, YouTube was already one of the most popular sites on the entire internet. However, the advent of mobile video on cell phones, which is growing all the time, has made video an even more important tool for promoting a business on the internet. If a business creates a great video, there is a very good chance that users will share it, which will create a viral effect that can massively boost a profile online of business.

There are many types of videos that can be successful online, but one that is almost surely to not be successful is one which is a direct sales pitch for your products. This might, in very specific situations, be an effective tactic on your own webpage. However, this is not the type of video which typically creates good results on sharing sites like YouTube. Videos which are successful in that type of venue are those which offer something to the viewer, not those which make them feel like they are being subjected to a hard sell.

A great tactic is to create videos which are informative, and which are related to your area of expertise. This helps to establish you as an authority in your area, which is invaluable in creating consumer interest and trust. If you can demonstrate through videos that you have something truly valuable to offer your customers, it is going to make them much more interested in buying from you. Also, if the information you provide is valuable, viewers are going to be more likely to recommend and share the video.

Videos online are most often posted in a social media setting, like YouTube. This means that people can comment on the videos. You should respond to these comments, and engage viewers in conversation when possible. This shows them that you're a hands-on business owner that is willing to discuss things with their customers, and who takes their videos seriously. People who do this often experience a great increase in traffic through their videos than those who simply post video and then forget about it.

As with most areas of the social web, creating a sense of community and discussion is key to making video a viable source of traffic and marketing for your company. Also, don't use YouTube exclusively. Use it, but remember to post your video on the many other video sharing sites out there as well.
