Theft
Thousands of cars are stolen every year in Britain and every driver is at risk. Dont be fooled into thinking that thieves will go after newer cars because this is not the case! If it has four wheels and a working engine, then it is still just as much of a target.
Collision
Along with theft this is the biggest reason for car drivers claiming on their insurance. Around 3,000 people are injured in road traffic accidents every year in the UK... and this is without mentioning the frightening amount of fatalities. Most crashes are caused either by speeding or tailgating. If only people would stop this behaviour, then the amount of accidents would drop like a stone!
Fire
Most cars run on petrol and (as if you were unaware!) this is also great fuel for a fire.
There are two main risks of fire with a vehicle; mechanical failure/malfunction and arson. The first of these risks is pretty slim. Okay, so things can go wrong sometimes, but it will very rarely result in a car bursting into flames. However, arson is sadly far more commonplace. In fact, many joy riders will polish off their evening in a stolen car by putting a match to it.
Vandalism
Unfortunately there are a lot of vandals in our midst and they just love to damage cars. This can mean all manner of things; scratches, dents, broken mirrors or slashed tyres. Anyone returning to their vehicle and finding it keyed all along one side will feel a whole lot better if they are covered by fully comprehensive insurance.
Legal Expenses
Insurance policies will vary in their amount of legal expenses cover and it is always worth finding out exactly how much protection you will get. If you ever need to make a car injury claim, then your insurance can save you a great deal of money. Some insurers will offer legal expenses cover as an add on to your policy. And if this is the case, then you should give it some very serious consideration.
Breakdown Cover
These days, many insurance companies will include breakdown cover with their policies and this is a really good idea. Even if, as it turns out, you never need to use it, then it will give you great peace of mind to know that your vehicle is covered. And any car can go wrong, no matter how modern it is.
