subject: Austin City Limits Festival Tickets - 2010 Headliners Are A Big Draw [print this page] Austin City Limits is one of the summer's hottest music festivals, bringing together indie-rock fans from every corner of the country to descend upon the Mecca of alternative rock for three full days of music. Since 2002, when the festival was formed, it's been considered a kind of Sundance for music, giving small bands with rising star status a chance to break out into the national scene in a matter of days.
While the swarm of smaller acts is always going to be the meat of the festival, sitting at the top of its lineup are a host of great headliners that are sure to bring in plenty of press and music fans as well. This year it will be no different, with a mix of indie-rock favorites and classic rock legends. Below is a partial list of the artists that will be selling the most Austin City Limits Festival tickets for 2010.
The Eagles: The Eagles are a pretty odd pick for the Austin City Limits Festival. They're undoubtedly the "biggest" band that's going to be performing here, but they're really more appropriate for the attendees' dads than the crowd itself. Still, they do have a litany of classic hits in their oeuvre, and we're sure that dusty Austin will be able to party to "Hotel California."
Muse: Famous for their big, bold rock sound and lead singer Matthew Bellamy's soaring vocals, Muse has been a college radio favorite for just over a decade now. They will undoubtedly be a pretty wide crowd-pleaser, though there's some division among critics over them. A lot of people don't care for their more recent rock style, which started leaning towards prog, but there are enough fans out there that their crowd will be as big as their sound.
Phish: Does Phish even need an introduction? The band is infamous for its college-age audience and no matter how much time passes since their heyday in the early '90s they continue to remain relevant to young listeners, who enjoy their feel-good jams and silly, off-the-wall brand of humor. Phish rocks, and fans of all ages will be able to get down to their music.
The Strokes: Fans have been waiting a long time for the Strokes to head back out on tour. The New York indie-rock band took off in the mid-'00s as one of the first in a long line of post-punk inspired rock acts to explode on the national scene. Though there are many bands that share their sound, the Strokes are the originals, and there will be plenty of fans screaming for them on the stage.
M.I.A.: Controversial, rebellious and undeniably great to dance to, M.I.A. has exploded since her single "Paper Planes" became the ubiquitous hit of 2007. Whether she's taking a political stand or rocking out while pregnant (as she did at a series of dates a couple years back), she's a firecracker on the stage.
