subject: Prom On A Budget [print this page]

The prom is probably the most exciting and most looked forward to experience as a high school student. Sadly, this is also an extremely expensive exercise, but there are ways to enjoy the prom on a budget.

Start Saving Begin saving before the event. A big difference in the options you have for outfits, dinner and after-parties will be your monthly savings.

Plan Planning the night in advance will help avoid unforeseen expenses that can blow the budget.

Canvass Canvas for sales when shopping for dresses, tuxedos, shoes and purses. Dresses and suits can be tailored to fit. Thrift shops are good for finding vintage accessories, and try looking at their wedding dresses too - a good dye job can change a wedding dress into a beautiful gown.

Borrow Dyed or adjusted to look like new, bridesmaids dresses and shoes can be adapted for Prom night and save you a big part of the expense of Prom night. Friends, family or from wherever you can, try to borrow to save on cost.

It's Nice To Share Share some of the expenses with a group of your friends and their date like a limo to transport you to and from dinner, the prom, the after-party and home. Limos can usually fit four couples comfortably.

Dinner Request the parents of your group that you will hold a dinner in one of your homes with them doing the cooking, instead of eating a fancy meal in an expensive restaurant. Parents will be happy to be included in some of the festivities, not only that, you will also save a fortune.

Pamper Yourself Have a spa night at one home for the girls in the group. Give each other facials, manicures and pedicures, exfoliate, hydrate and beautify! This is more fun and much cheaper than if you went to a salon.

You Can DIY If you're not confident with your hair and makeup skills, ask a friend to help. Practice a few weeks ahead of time, and get dressed together so you can all help each other look fabulous.

Photo Time Getting your parents to do photos would save you some cash, easy if you're eating as a group at someone's home, you can bring your own camera for the more candid shots.

Breakfast at home Ask your parents for help to prepare for a nice breakfast after the event. Have a buffet breakfast at someone's home to save the cost of eating out.

Spending a load of cash is not necessary to look fantastic and have a great time, it is possible to enjoy prom on a budget.
