subject: Can You Make Money Taking Surveys? [print this page] In an area abounding with scams and thinly veiled attempts to sell you something there is, from my experience, at least one company that actually provides you with a way to earn for taking surveys. They are selling nothing and the only thing you have to complete to receive your rewards is the surveys. A quick disclaimer here: I have no connection to the company except for completing surveys.
Are the rewards worth the time it takes to complete the surveys? Well, that is a question only you can answer. However, if you have some free time and enjoy filling out surveys you will earn at least a token item for your time and opinions.
Harris Polls are simple and straight forward. After you sign up with them, the process starts when they send an e-mail inviting you to participate in a poll. If you choose to do so, it is just a couple of mouse clicks away. After you take a poll they ask you how often you would like to receive poll invitations. Three days is the shortest period of time available, so you will not be inundated with requests.
Upon completion of a survey you earn Hipoints. Depending upon the length of the survey you will normally receive from 30 to 100 Hipoints, most often 100. These points are put into an account for you and saved until you redeem them. If you let them sit for years and have no activity in the account they will expire as I once found out.
For 200 points you can enter one of their sweepstakes. For 1,350 points you can receive a $10 gift card from a wide variety of stores. For 3,000 points you can get a $25 gift card or a 4 Gig flash drive. The points top out at 10,000 where you can get a $75 gift card or a 12 cup coffee maker. There are usually a variety of items from which to select and these are only examples. There are additional reward levels as well, so every 1,000 points or so you have new choices. There is no charge for mailing your rewards.
Recently, for 5,000 points, I received a kit containing a pair of binoculars, an AM/FM radio, ear phones, and a soft-side lunch box cooler. The whole thing seemed perfect for taking to football games and I filled out a bunch of surveys to earn it. One nice thing about Hipoints is that you can view the folios at various point levels to see what you might want to earn.
If you complete surveys there are rewards. It wont change your lifestyle, but it could be a good Christmas or birthday present or even a little something for yourself. Be wary of companies offering large payouts for completing surveys. At best you will enjoy taking the surveys and look forward to a small payoff.
