Breast Augmentation Surgery Vs. Tummy Tuck

What should one put their surgical dollars toward, a breast augmentation surgery or a tummy tuck? Often times, a cosmetic surgical candidate needs work in more than one area. A prime example of this is a woman who has lost her figure somewhere during the course of her child bearing. Her belly has become flabby and her waist has thickened substantially. Her breasts are flattened to her once vibrant chest. But let's face it; plastic surgery is not cheap. A typical mommy in an average income range will often have to make a choice between the procedures. Let's look at the benefits of each of them.

- Breast Augmentation: This operation is often affectionately referred to as a boob job. Ask any woman who has had it done and you'll find that this alteration is a huge boost to the self esteem. Do women get more notice with full breasts? The answer is a definite "yes." Let's face it; a curvy bosom is sexy and alluring. If a mommy chooses the boob job, she will have attractive cleavage and mounds that draw eyes away from other less than perfect physical attributes. That's right; all eyes will be on her lovely bosoms. A larger chest will make her waist, belly and hips appear to be magically smaller, too. Now there's a bonus!

Breast Augmentation Surgery Vs. Tummy Tuck

- Tummy Tuck: The scientific name for a tummy tuck is an abdominoplasty. This is an operation performed by a plastic surgeon in a clinic or hospital in order to tighten up the belly and mid-section. Excess skin and tissue is removed and then stitched into a new, tighter positioning. The scar will be in the pubic hair region so barely noticeable when wearing panties or a bikini. The navel will usually need to be moved into a more centralized position because once the skin in stretched downward, the belly button will appear to be awkwardly positioned. The inner girdle of connective tissue will also need to be fitted more snugly so that it effectively holds the internal organs in place. If the inner girdle isn't cinched, there will still be pooch in the region due to the organs' protrusion. Once a tummy has been tucked, the bosoms will appear fuller than before, even without implants. It's all about comparison and how things look next to each other.

So, what's the best cosmetic bang for your buck? It would be wise to do some self reflection in order to decide which appearance flaw causes the most bother. Which one really wears on your self esteem? If a prospective patient can't seem to make a decision between breast augmentation surgery and a tummy tuck, an appointment with a plastic surgeon for a consultation could provide enough information to be a tie breaker.
