subject: Herbalife Review - Fit For Champions Or Not? [print this page]

Herbalife was founded in 1980 out of Los Angeles, California. A man by the name of Mark Hughes literally began selling the first Herbalife weight loss product out of the trunk of his car. He was inspired by weight loss concerns for his mother. He blamed her death on an eating disorder due to an unhealthy and unnatural weight loss approach.

In those days, the old fashioned techniques of Internet Marketing worked quite well and through basically, word of mouth and the company's catchy phrase, " Lose Weight Now, Ask Me How ", Herbalife grew to great heights within it's first two years of existence.

In the past, as with many companies, Herbalife has had it's fair share of controversy. However, the products and company have always seemed to prevail. Nowadays, Herbalife is known world wide with it's products and with it's business opportunities.

Herbalife also sponsors a number of organizations. The founder, Mark Hughes started the Herbalife Family Foundation in 1994. This is a non profit organization which provides healthy nutrition to less fortunate children. The company also sponsors a number of sports teams and athletes as well. They have a wide product range, everything from supplements, protein shakes, nutritional items to personal care.

The disadvantages of Herbalife have been many of the allegations pinned on the company which have included the banning of some of the ingredients in their products by The U.S. Food and Drug Administration. In addition, the business opportunity has been described as " essentially running a pyramid scheme ". Those accusations were speculation, however, were addressed.

The advantages are, the company is still going strong with it's products and it's business opportunities. They have passed the test of time regarding allegations directed towards them along with other controversial topics and continues to not only be a growing company, but, a very popular one.
