When it comes to making money online there is no area that is more fraught with scam than paid surveys.
Do a search on Google for 'surveys' or 'paid surveys' and you will see more than 7 million results. Click on many if not most of them and it will be a web site that has a giant list of paid survey sites that are all free to join. Case in point is the cash for surveys web site.
Are there REALLY that many nice guys out there that make entire web sites around free to join money making surveys and they do it all for free just because they are such great guys? Mother Theresa is proud in her grave.
No.
The reality of paid surveys is this. Go to any one of the survey web sites that show up in the Google search for 'paid surveys' (the ones that show a giant list of survey sites to join like cash for surveys web site shown above) and of the 70 or 90 surveys shown in the list 99% of them are not even real survey sites.
There are about 9 or 10 real and legitimate survey sites that you can get access to for free online. One of them for example is Global Test Market. Most of the surveys of the 9 or 10 do not even pay money. They enter you into sweepstakes drawings where about 1 in 10,000 members might win something.
So why and how are there so many web sites listing so many survey offers online?
Here is how it works.
The 9 or 10 legit survey site have surveys from big companies in their database. Coke wants to know what people think of there new cherry coke or how to improve it they give Global Test Market a survey. Every one that takes that survey they pay Global Test Market X number of dollars. Global Test Market will share a little bit of that money with the survey taker.
These legit survey web sites know that to make more money they need more visitors. The quickest and simplest way for them to get visitors is to turn to pay people to send them visitors. I personally know from experience that for every person you send to Global Test Market that completes the signup process they will pay you $2.25 (You have to sign up as an affiliate with Commission Junction first)
What started to happen very quickly is that people wanting to make that $2.25 commission from Commission Junction (and the additional commissions from the other few legit survey sites) started to create their own fake survey sites. These fake survey sites look just like a real survey site when you get there.
They have you fill out your name, address, etc. so you can 'join'. You click the submit button and you are taken to the 'secret members area' which lists the 9 or 10 legit paying survey companies like Global Test Market. The person who has now joined the survey company signs up with the survey companies in the list and the web site owner makes a commission for every single survey site in the list the survey taker signs up with.
These fake survey sites then began to see how much money they can make this way and so they did the same thing the legit survey sites did. They offered to pay people who send them members. Why not? At $1.50-$3.00 commission for every legit survey company their visitor signs up with and considering that most people will sign up with more than 1 legit survey offer the bogus survey web master could make some serious money. And some do!
So now you have a whole new breed of people make fake survey sites to show the previously mentioned fake survey sites and in the mix of their giant list will actually be a few of the legit survey sites listed.
It is a big mish mash of lots of web masters making a lot of money and the survey takers? Good luck if you even get dog crumbs.
How do I know so much about all this and how paid survey sites work? Because the I own the cash for surveys web site previously mentioned above and have been involved in the industry for a little while now. If you go to my cash for surveys site any one of those 'survey companies' you join I get paid a commission of anywhere between $1.00-$4.00 depending on which survey site in the list you join.
So Which paid surveys ARE legit? Can I make money with paid surveys?
You CAN make money with paid surveys and you can make a lot of money as well. The catch is it is not free. The good news however is that the small membership fee you have to pay to access to the REAL surveys if quite low compared to how much you can and will make.
It is called a survey membership site. In exchange for your one time membership fee of around $70 these survey membership sites round up all the real and legit survey offers for you and since they are a legit business that is being paid for their services all they do is find the good paying survey offers for its members. That is their full time job.
The cream of the crop when it comes to survey membership sites without a doubt is Classified Surveys. There is a great site that is videos and photos inside the members area of Classified Surveys call more free info surveys.
Frankly I was and am quite impressed with what is inside. There are more than 300 paid survey companies that you can join. These are the REAL survey sites. No popups. No asking you to sign up with trial offers to try to trick you into buying something. None of the BS commonly associated with survey sites.
Inside the Classified Surveys members area there is also 31 companies that really will pay you to drive your car! The company will wrap your car with an ad from a major company like Geico for example and pay your several hundred dollars per month for it. Some of these paid to drive companies will give you a free car to drive and use as you wish that is wrapped with an ad.
All in all in the Classified Surveys members area is:
