subject: Watch Futurama Online [print this page] Futurama is a great television show from Matt Groening the creator the long running television show The Simpsons. The show is about a pizza delivery boy from todays time who was frozen for a few thousand years and awakened in the future. It was produced from 1999 to 2003 and then 16 more episodes were created from 2007 to 2009 and released only on DVD. There are 100 episodes of Futurama in total.
Basically a cartoon version of a workplace sitcom, Futurama follows Philip J Fry a 20th century Pizza delivery boy as he works for the Planet Express interplanetary delivery service. Its characters include a one eyed woman Turanga Leela, Professor Huber Farnsworth, Dr Zoidberg an alien that looks like a lobster and Bender the most famous of the characters which is a robot.
Each episode of Futurama was carefully crafted by its makers in nearly a 6 month process per episode. Every episode began with writers having a meeting to brainstorm the storyline and a single writer would write the script and outline for the episode. Then after the editors looked it over it was sent to be animated. The show uses mostly hand drawn animation but CGI is mixed in to help with more complex shots.
The death of Futurama is often blamed on sports. FOX was often unable to air the show in its timeslot due to the fact it was being preempted by sporting events. This caused Fox to not even air several episodes that were created for seasons three and four until season five. Due to the high scheduling conflict rate with sporting events the ratings of Futurama plummeted and FOX decided to quit buying new episodes.
Due to the fact that Futurama is no longer aired on television most fans have to result to purchasing DVD sets of episodes in order to see it. However now there is another option, with the wider availability of the internet studios have started to offer television shows online. You can now Watch Futurama Online for free making it much more widely available to fans without having to pay any money.
