Throughout the Rapture V2 range tungsten is strategically placed to improve performance. The Ping Rapture V2 driver has a titanium body with weights located near the heel and toe to reduce spin and produce longer drives. Variable face thickness increases forgiveness on mis-hits. It also has an excellent blend of distance along with great control and workability which make this driver so popular in every golf shop.
The Ping Rapture V2 driver represents the culmination of Ping's development of multi-metal technology that combines the key properties of the materials to maximise the performance of the club. The Rapture V2's 460 cc head combines a titanium body with external tungsten weight pads that are located at the back of the club, near the heel and toe. The weight pads position the centre of gravity to allow the Ping Rapture V2 to deliver a lower spin and high launch angle together with a higher MOI that improves both distance and accuracy. The head is plasma-welded and it's taller face has been machined to variable thicknesses to promote increased ball speed and is styled with an aggressively tapered crown featuring the Double-Rapture alignment aid.
The Ping Rapture V2 driver is fairly easy to launch and sounds very nice at impact. You don't get that very loud hollow noise which some of the newer Drivers can make, just a solid thud that lets you know that you're hitting a well-made, quality golf club.
All in all, Ping engineers have captured the hot face of the G10 and the solid sound and feel of the original Rapture and put it into the V2 package.
